In December, Congress passed legislation during the lame duck session to end the military's controversial stopgap policy, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." Since the bill was signed into law, the Pentagon has been tasked to address ways to equitably integrate openly gay service members into the U.S. military. In January, the Pentagon issued a memo outlining how the military should go about integrating the forces once a to-be-determined date for changing the policy has been selected.
