摘要

As the number of vehicles increases, so does the rate of accidents happening on the roads. In this project we have compared the performance statistics of Ad-hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol in vehicular networks and Enhanced-AODV protocol in vehicular networks, using the metrics such as end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio. The two major issues that concern the vehicular ad-hoc networks are connectivity between nodes and security of the data. As the vehicles are always moving, establishing and maintaining connection between them is a problem, which is solved using Enhanced-AODV. Security threats, such as sinkhole attack, that are faced in vehicular networks are countered using Hop-Count detection technique. Simulation of the network is done using Network Simulator, NS-2.34 and it indicates that the E-AODV improves the end-to-end delay by 2 seconds (10 % reduction) and increases the packet delivery ratio by 1.3 %.
