Glacigenic sediments and landforms indicate that the Atholville (NTS 21 O/15) and Charlo (NTS 21 O/16) map areas of northeastern New Brunswick experienced a complex style of glaciation during the Late Wisconsinan.; Regional and detailed surficial mapping and till sampling was undertaken to investigate clast and geochemical dispersal patterns from known Cu-Mo mineral occurrences associated with base-metal porphyry-skarns in the Popelogan Lake area. The −63μm (silt+clay) size fraction of the till matrix samples was analyzed for a total of 39 different elements by Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) and Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS). Dispersal patterns were typically elongated over a distance of 5 km for clasts and 2 km for elemental concentrations; several patterns indicate the influence of two ice-flow directions.; A total of 109 humus samples were collected over the porphyry-skarn occurrences and analyses were compared with till matrix samples taken at the same location. Concentrations of Ag, Cd, Hg, Mo, Pb, and Zn in humus are higher than those in till at the same site, as a result of hydromorphic and/or biogeochemical factors. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)
