A Review of Trends and Techniques in Recommender Systems

Recommendations provide a way for users to access content which might interest them but would have been difficult otherwise. General Recommendations satisfy most consumers but because of the varied interests of the population, personalized recommendations is the solution which we seek. This paper discusses the Collaborative Filtering, Content-Based, Hybrid approaches(and the algorithms used by these techniques). Each approach has their pros and cons and they are evaluated using the Evaluation Metrics. The approach which performs best according to the domain of application should be selected. This study also reviews these evaluation metrics.
