Water removal from microalgae bio-crude is essential, considering the presence of water droplets effects on declining quality of oil product. In microalgae bio-crude production, about 30% water is contained in the product after hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) process. High electric field demulsification is one of the methods that can be used to separate water from the oil settled by electric charge. In this study, we investigated the effect of the high electric field demulsification in W/O model emulsions in which the similar effect may be applicable in microalgae bio-crude oil processing.
