Based on CFD model framework, a simulation analysis of gas-solid two-phase flow in a multi-cavity kiln used for heating catalysts is presented. The heat transfer model includes radiation exchange among gas, refractory shell and catalyst, conduction inside the refractory shell, and convection heat transfer between the gas and the catalyst as well as the inner refractory shell wall. The contributions of heat transfer between the catalyst and the inner refractory shell wall by surface contact and heat transfer between the outer exposed refractory shell wall and surroundings have also been considered. The simulated results are in good agreement with experimental data.
