The adsorption of arsenic (V) from drinking water on Modified Bone Char (MBC) was investigated in this work. The bone Char (CH) was modified by supporting zero-valent Iron Nanoparticles (INP) on its surface. The surface morphology of MBC was examined by SEM, and it was observed the formation of a coating on the surface of the BC particles. The TEM analysis showed clearly the presence of INPs in the MBC. The adsorption capacity of MBC towards As(V) was dependent on the synthesis conditions and the adsorption capacity of the optimal MBC (MBCOp) towards As(V) was enhanced more than 7 times than that of BC. The effects of pH and temperature on the adsorption capacity as well as desorption of As(V) adsorbed on MBCOp were also studied in detail. The removal of As(V) from polluted drinking water was performed and the removal of As(V) was carried out very efficiently.
