Cellulose as a sustainable biomass will be greatly developed at the background of energy crisis. Micro/nanofibers from pure mechanical method exhibits great advantages in controlling cost and protecting the environment, furthermore, the papermaking process is low cost. Cellulose nanofiber also exhibit great potential as an absorbent. So we believe that, based on these excellent physical properties and three-dimensional pore structure, high-flux microfiltration membrane with the function of metal ions absorption from cellulose micro/nanofibers will be a promising alternative for next generation MF membrane.
