In this paper, electronic map information is used to registration, extract the coast contours, then operate equidistant sampling, extracting the key point from the corner, identify potential area of ship docking and rule it. The results show that the methods can find the candidate region of ship quickly and accurately, avoid the useless search, improve the efficiency of detection and recognition algorithm. Usually changes to harbor ship target detection mainly rely on manual interpretation. Because port range is large, the target is relatively dispersed, and geographical location and the main ship in the parking area are relatively fixed for a long time. In the military field, regional electronic map and information is also a very important part of information security. The important is that electronic map is used to characterize the stationary object location, ships, vehicles and other mobile target does not appear on the map. This makes the extraction based on the electronic map of the sea land segmentation and coastal profile is very simple, and the precision is very high. Based on the above considerations, we propose a candidate region detection method of harbor ship target based on map. The basic idea is to make full use of the electronic map, rapid extraction of ship possible docking area and rule it. It can avoid the useless search, improve the efficiency of algorithm by Changing the complex detection problem into several small relatively simple test problems.
