The present paper introduces the newly developed APM technology for metal foam part production. Main development goal was an increased reproducibility of properties. The general approach, its implementation as well as process details and characteristics are explained. Results from a first test series prove that the targeted improved reproducibility is achieved. Further more, new degrees of freedom in defined adjustment of the foam part's properties are made available. Besides these part-related advantages the new APM process also allows for fully automated foam part production combined with improved process efficiency.
