Infection by the protistan Bonamia ostreae is the main constraint for the European oyster industry. Development of an oyster resistant strain is a promising strategy. As a previous stage, evaluation of variability in disease susceptibility, and physiological and productive traits through oyster populations was performed. Association of the progression of bonamiosis with host gonad condition has been disclosed through the evaluation.
