Better seismic resolution helps geoscientists to distinguish different geologic features from one another. Considering instantaneous seismic trace spectrum varies along time or depth, we combined two joint-time frequency analysis tools to compute a higher resolution trace. Specifically, we first decompose the traces by using Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD). Then, we used the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) ridges to create a higher resolution seismic trace from EMD modes. Using real seismic data we show the effectiveness of the methodology on detecting seismic events associated with acoustic impedance changes.
