摘要

We present a novel recycling method for waste automotive engine oil. In microwave pyrolysis, hydrocarbons are thermally cracked in the absence of oxygen into shorter chains. The cracked hydrocarbons in gaseous form are then re-condensed into various oils, gases, and char products depending on the composition of the input substances and reaction conditions. Microwave heating offers an efficient heating mechanism for our pyrolysis process; a carbon reaction bed acts as a microwave receptor and is used to provide a highly reducing reaction environment, avoiding the formation of undesirable oxidised species.
