Stainless steels are well known for their high corrosion resistance properties. In this paper, theeffect of surface texture on the corrosion resistance properties of SS304 stainless steels wasinvestigated. Different surface textures were produced for this study. namely {001}<100>,(110}<110> and {111}<110>. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) was performed tocharacterize the general corrosion resistance of the stainless steel surfaces. Potentiodynamicpolarization was performed to characterize the resistance to localized corrosion (Pitting) of thestainless steel surfaces. The poles figures were measured using x-ray diffraction technique and theorientation distribution functions (ODFs) were calculated using Resmat software. The results showedthat surfaces with (111) preferred planes have the highest resistance to general corrosion and pitting.The resistance to general corrosion of the surfaces with (111) preferred planes was 258 MΩ.cm~2compared to 219 MΩ.cm~2and 82 MΩ.cm~2for the surfaces with (001) respectively 110)) preferred
