摘要

Themolecular etiology of epithelial transition to EMT phenotype is not fully elucidated; this research will provide new insights. Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecological cancer. Most newly diagnosed ovarian cancer patients present with widespread metastases. The overall 5-year survival is only 30% due to late diagnosis and resistance to chemotherapy. Muc16 (CA125) is the only clinically reliable diagnostic marker in serum, with the recent exception of HE4. The disease typically presents in postmenopausal women, with few months of abdominal pain and distension. The standard of care remains surgery and platinum-based cytotoxic chemotherapy. Existing screening modalities have not demonstrated survival benefit in completed prospective trials.
