Premature senescence of human fibroblasts is established after exposure to an acute sublethal concentration of H_2O_2. Overex-pression of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) was shown to be responsible for the appearance of the biomarkers of senescence in these conditions. Other studies have shown that incubation of human fibroblasts with TGF-β1 leads to overexpression of H_2O_2. In this work, we show an increased production of H_2O_2 by human fibroblasts as premature senescence is established after an initial exposure to H_2O_2.
