Bankuti 1201, an old Hungarian wheat population has been analysed for expression level of storage protein fractions in two growing seasons (1998 and 1999) of the same location. The seasons differing in weather conditions (e.g. in number of days with chronic conditions (daily maxima between 20 and 30 °C) and heat-shock conditions (days of over 30 °C) as well as amount of rainfall during the ripening period) had significant effect on monomeric protein content, on HMW GS content and y-type HMW-GSs. Onthe other hand, no significant effect was detected on flour protein content, UPP and x-type HMW-GSs. Expression level of some sub-fractions both of sulphur poor and sulphur rich monomeric proteins changed significantly.
