There are two types of podiform chromite deposits — high Chromium and Aluminum chromites in the mantle peridotites. The former belongs to PPG series and the latter to PTG series of ophiolite. The studies of the authors indicate that the podiform chromite deposits are products formed by varying degree of melting and reconstituting of primary pyrolite. The degree of congregation of the chromite ore body depends on the intensity of plastic deformation of upper mantle. The high-Cr chromites are products formed by high degree of melting and reconstituting of primary pyrolite, being called high melted and reconstituted metallogenic model. The high-Al chromites are products of varying degree of melting and reconstituting of primary pyrolite. There are two different metallogenic models. One is moderate-lower melted and reconstituted metallogenic model, the other is high melted and reconstituted—re-equilibrium metallogenic model.
