The Pattern of Combination and Industrial Division of Gas-Bearing Basins in China and the Strategic Thinking for Natural Gas Exploration

The Meso-Cenozoic gas-bearing basins in China can be divided into 5 basin-types, which can be grouped into 4 combination types. The 4 combination types respectively are the combination of continental margin basins, the combination of intracontinental rift basins, the combination of intracratonic depression basins, and the combination of composite and superimposed basins. Consulting the ratio of gas resources to total resources,>60% is gas province, 60J^-15?-o is oil-gas province, <15% is gas-oil province. So, Oil-gas basins in China can be divided into 4 petroleum province. From east to west, they are respectively the offshore oil-gas province, the eastern China gas-oil province, the central China gas province, and the western China oil-gas province. In each province, the conditions for gas enrichment are different. The explorative prospect in each province is also different. The strategy for natural gas exploration in China should be focusing on the central part, developing the west, paying more attention to the offshore and intensiving explorating the east.
