Deep-sea polymetallic nodules, Co-rich manganese crusts and seamount phosphorite are sedimentary mineral resources formed in certain geologic periods and in special geologic environmental conditions of Cenozoic. Results of Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP), Ocean Drilling Project (ODP) and Clarion-Clipperton (CC) core studies and correlations of textures, structures, minerals and geochemistry between the nodules, crusts and phosphorite have shown that paleoocean ographic events and environments such as Antarctic Bottom Water, upwclling, bioproductivity and hiatuses are controlling the formations and distributions of the above 3 types of mineral resources.
