Efficient Resource Allocation in UAV-BS Dual Connectivity Heterogeneous Networks

In this paper, a UAV-BS dual connectivity system in downlink wireless networks is studied. In the considered system model, it combines the high mobility of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and dual connectivity (DC) to provide users with higher data rates and ubiquitous communication services in dense users scenarios such as large concert scenes. UAVs and base stations (BSs) provide services for users simultaneously. We formulate a joint access point selection and power allocation problem to maximize the system throughput. However, the problem is a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem, and obtaining the optimal solution to the problem is computationally hard. Therefore, two types of access points decision-making methods and an improved genetic algorithm (GA) are proposed to solve the complicated problem. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has good convergence and has better performance gain compared with others.
