In densely wooden build-up areas, ventilation conditions and summer thermal environments seem not to be so good because of narrow streets and high-density wooden houses.Making ventilation condition better in such area is one of the effective measures for improving summer thermal environment.Consequently, the purpose of this study is to make a simplified ventilation evaluation method that can be calculated in GIS.By using CFD, wind distribution was simulated in typical urban form models.And the relationship between wind distribution and the rates of building blocking (RBB) that are calculated on GIS was analyzed.Authors also analyzed the effective size of open spaces and height of building.Major findings are as follows:1) Buildings on windward affects ventilation in the alley.2) Making an open space by using 2 or 3 lots according the wind-blowing direction can be expected to improve ventilation condition.3) The arrangement of higher building affects the ventilation condition.
