摘要

Despite the widespread use of Electrodiagnosis (EDX) techniques in different hospitals in our country, at present they are only installed in clinical laboratories and they are not used for Neurophysiological Intraoperative Monitoring (NIOM) to reduce neurological morbidity associated with some types of surgeries that can affect the Nervous System. Among other reasons, this is mainly due to the lack of technology. This paper aims to explain the introduction of the system 'Neuronic Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring', developed by the Center for Neurosciences of Cuba, as an specific porpoise software for NIOM. It was validated by the recording of different EDX tests during lumbosacral spine surgery in the context of an operating room. The NIOM was performed in 15 patients with lumbosacral pathologies. Monitoring was suc-cessfully performed during all surgeries by using the functio-nality of the software. Recordings were obtained with accurate signal to noise ratio. It was possible also the simultaneous recording of different techniques of the EDX. The measure-ments on each signal (latency and amplitude) were calculated by the software automatically in real time. It allows to follow the course of these parameters during the surgical process and to give a warning to the Neurosurgeon if a possible damage to the structures of the Nervous System (NS) is detected. The technical staff received a systematic and useful feedback from the specialists based on their practical experience and the corresponding updates of the software was made to improve its reliability.
