The influences of phosphoric acid concentration, namely water content, on the structure and performance of V-P-O catalysts were studied. The materials obtained were characterized by the techniques of BET and XRD, etc. The results showed phosphoric acid concentration had direct influences on the crystalline disorder and defects, redox performance, surface area and pore volume, etc. The equilibrated catalysts also appeared some crystalline disorder and defects. It gives out the appropriate range of the relative diffraction intensity of (020) to (204). The best catalytic result was attained at 100% phosphoric acid used. The selectivity and weight yield to maleic anhydride were 86.7% and 121.0%.
