The heat transfer coefficients between gas and solid particles in a countercurrent olid contactor with regularly arranged baffle plates have been obtained by temperature profiles and solving the heat balance equations in consideration of heat loss. The loading point was observed at a critical gas flow rate, G_(ld) , in this contactor and a definite increase in the solid holdup was also observed at Gu_(ld).The heat transfer coefficient between gas and particles, h, increased under G_(ld) and decreased over G_(ld) , but the volumetric heat transfer coefficients, ha_p , increased definitely due to the increase of solid holdup, where a_p is the volumetric specific surface area of particles.
