Evaluation of Bearing Capacity of base Course Subgrade by Falling Weight Deflectometer

In evaluating bearing capacity of base course and subgrade, Plate Bearing Test and CBR Test were used for a long time. However, these methods require complicated work at job site and reaction force is needed for loading. Also, they limit the number of measurement point to be able to done in one day. It is useful to introduce Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) measurement for thickness design of soft subgrade such as the volcanic cohesive soil which needs the stabilization. Almost the same thickness could be got by FWD and CBR test.
