Non-invasive and semi-invasive methods were developed for diagnosis of some diseases by using selected ion monitoring (SIM)-GC-MS. A method for PKU and MSUD diagnosis in neonatal blood samples, a method for liver dysfunction test and one for quantitative measuring of biomarkers in asthma were developed. GC-MS was used for the diagnosis by metabolite profiling and fingerprint or quantitative analyses of semi-volatile or volatile organic compounds biomarkers from breath or biological fluids.
