Abstract: Optical interferometric techniques are beingincreasingly used in laboratory test and can usefullysubstitute other classical techniques when greataccuracy in measuring displacement is required. Inparticular, Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) technique has aroused lively interest by theindustrial and research users because does not requireexcessive environmental stability and does notnecessary photo processing. In the paper the authorsshow the results obtained applying the ESPI methods tomechanical characterization of clay materials used tomanufacture blocks for composite floors. !11
