Problems in complex modulation of wavefronts using LCTV displays in optical correlation measurements

Abstract: Optical-hybrid correlator systems use electronically addressed spatial light modulators (SLMs) to improve the flexibility in data manipulation. By using the SLMs we must add to the optical setup such elements like polarizers and retarders, or enlarging lenses to match the scales in the system. These optical elements as well as the SLMs themselves cause the wavefront distortions. The problems and solutions to minimize the wavefront distortions throughout an optical-hybrid frequency plane correlator are discussed. !9
