摘要

A critical angle process refractometer is a simple measuring device for determining the concentration of liquid streams. When a refractometer is chosen for an application, several parameters should be considered before final commitment. Several design and process stream parameters are discussed that affect performance, accuracy, maintenance and over-all confidence in the refractometric technique. A brief description of the critical angle refractive index phenomenan is presented. Relative advantages and disadvantages are discussed that affect the stability, survivability and reliability of the refractometer monitor. Successful application examples in the Petro-chemical - Chemical, Food and Beverage and Pulp and Paper Industries are discussed. Recently, many critical angle refractometers are being used because manufacturing processes are being automated for quality and improved yields through tighter control.
