摘要

Proper modeling of factional slippage or separation of soil from adjacent structural elements is an important issue in geo-mechanics and pavement engineering. By introducing constraints on the nodal displacements of the neighboring elements, contact elements can prevent element overlap. In this paper, a contact interface element is presented. Several contact states are identified. Friction and bonding are simulated by means of the Hoffman flow surface. De-bonding has been implemented as a function of the distance between the contact interface surfaces. The capabilities of the contact element are demonstrated.
