A Design and Implementation of Structured I-CASE Tool Repository using aStandard IRDS Repository

This paper presents a design and implementation ofrnstructured I-CASE (Integrated Computer-Aided SoftwarernEngineering) Tool Repository. The I-CASE repository isrnbased on ANSI(American National Standard Institute)rnIRDS(Information Resource Dictionary System) standardsrnand has been implemented on top of the INFORMIXrnrelational DBMS. I-CASE tools to support the entire liferncycle phases need an integrated repository to store,rnmanage and share information resources among those liferncycle phases. The IRDS provides integrated life cyclernmanaging policy, methodology and tools by providingrnfundamental structure to exchange metadata. This paperrndefines I-CASE metamodel based on structuredrnmethodology in terms of (Entity-Relationship) model.rnWe transform the I-CASE metamodel into IRDS datarnmodel and create IRD schema describing the structure ofrnIRD. Finally, we show traces of a cross-referencernbetween automatic software development process amongrneach software life cycle phases.
