DNA interaction studies of complexes of lanthanide nitrates with tris{2-(2,4-dihydroxybenzylidene)iminoethyl}amine
A new tripodal, hydroxyl-rich ligand, tris{2-[(2,4-dihydroxybenzylidene) imino]ethyl}amine (L), and its complexes with lanthanide nitrates were synthesized. The interaction of complexes with DNA were investigated by fluorescence spectra, which showed that all the complexes can intercalate into the base group pairs of DNA, and EuL and SmL complexes also can react with DNA by external electrostatic binding, which show that the binding model is effected by the metal ions. The binding affinity owith DNA is La(III) complex > Sm(III) complex Yb(III) complex, which obey the “Lanthanide Contraction” rule.
