    • 摘要: Background:Accurate quantification of voluntary activation is important for understanding the extent of quadriceps dysfunction in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACLR).Voluntary activation has been quantified using both percent activation derived from the interpolated twitch technique and central activation ratio(CAR)derived from the burst superimposition technique,as well as by using different types of electrical stimulators and pulse train conditions.However,it is unclear how these parameters affect voluntary activation estimates in individuals with ACLR.This study was performed to fill this important knowledge gap in the anterior cruciate ligament literature.Methods:Quadriceps strength and voluntary activation were examined in 18 ACLR participants(12 quadriceps/patellartendon graft,6 hamstring tendon graft;time since ACLR:1.06±0.82 years,mean±SD)at 90°of knee flexion using 2 stimulators(Digitimer and Grass)and pulse train conditions(3-pulse and 10-pulse).Voluntary activation was quantified by calculating both CAR and percent activation.Results:Results indicated that voluntary activation was significantly overestimated by CAR when compared with percent activation(p0.05);however,the Digitimer evoked greater torque at rest than the Grass(p<0.001).Conclusion:These results indicate that percent activation derived from the interpolated twitch technique provides superior estimates of voluntary activation than CAR derived from burst superimposition and is less affected by pulse train conditions or stimulators in individuals with ACLR.

    • 摘要: In this study,the role of(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)during the sulfurization of azurite and its response to flotation were investigated.The flotation results showed that adding(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)prior to sulfurization decreased the formation of colloid in flotation pulp,and the floatability of the suppressed azurite caused by excess sodium sulfide was restored.After adding(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)prior to sulfurization,the formation of Cu(NH_(3))_(n) ^(2+)intermediate products changed the path of the sulfurization reaction,which slowed the direct impact of HSon the azurite surface.The nucleation rate was reduced,and the growth of copper sulfide crystal was improved.Covellite(syn,CuS)with larger crystal grains was formed on the azurite surface,thereby enhancing the mechanical stability of copper sulfide products onto the mineral surface.Therefore,the generated copper sulfide colloid significantly reduced,ultimately promoting the effective adsorption of xanthate on the azurite surface.

    • 摘要: Polyalcohol is an environmentally friendly anti-collapse lubricant commonly used in water-based drilling fluids. It is generally composed of the single polyether or polyol, but its lubricity and anti-collapse inhibition can’t satisfy the application of current water-based drilling fluid systems well. Consequently, the laboratory has carried out research on the anti-collapse lubricant compound polyalcohol. The anti-collapse lubricant samples are mixed with lauryl polyether, nonylphenol polyether and Tween 80 according to different proportions. The cloud point, the reduction rate of lubrication coefficient and linear expansion are measured, and the change they caused should be observed. Then, the optimal ratio is optimized through orthogonal experiments. The results show that the increase in the content of the three kinds of polyethers respectively enhances the inhibition. When the content of lauryl polyether increases, the cloud point of the anti-collapse lubricant declines and the reduction rate of lubrication coefficient rises;when the content of nonylphenol polyether increases, the cloud point declines, but it has little effect on the reduction rate of the lubrication coefficient;when the content of Tween 80 increases, the cloud point rises, and the reduction rate of the lubrication coefficient first augments and then basically remains unchanged. The best mass ratio of lauryl polyether:TW-80:nonylphenol polyether is 6:3:4.

    • 摘要: In this work,experiments and comprehensive insights into the proposed covering liquid method to intensify self-preservation effect for methane(CH_(4))storage are presented.The CH_(4)hydrate decomposition percentage was 17.6%with the pressure of 0.61 MPa after 12 h at 266.0 K without a covering liquid,which can be reduced to 12.4%,13.8%,13.0%,and 8.3%with the pressure of 0.26 MPa,0.33 MPa,0.51 MPa,and 0.37 MPa by covering with tetrahydrofuran(THF),cyclopentane(CP),cyclohexane,and n-tetradecane,respectively.When the temperature for CH_(4)hydrate decompositionwas 274.2 K,covering with THF,CP,cyclohexane,and n-tetradecane failed to inhibit CH_(4)hydrate decomposition.The results suggested that the covering liquid may form a new solid layer(a hydrate layer or other solidified layer)around the CH_(4)hydrate,which inhibit CH_(4)transfer below the freezing point of water.However,the new solid layer cannot resist the fast transfer of CH_(4)from decomposed CH_(4)hydrate above the freezing point of water.The same phenomenon was also observed in a sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDS)-dry solution CH_(4)hydrate formation system.Therefore,the covering method can only intensify the self-preservation effect below the freezing point of water,but cannot generate a self-preservation effect.

    • 摘要: A benthic harmful dinoflagellate bloom caused by Prorocentrum concavum occurred at Xincun Bay,a lagoon characterized by a tropical seagrass ecosystem in the southern China,in summer 2018.Both abiotic and biotic factors may affect the abundance dynamics of P.concavum.One of the biotic factors,allelopathy,is known to be especially common among aquatic species and is suggested to be an economical and environmentally-friendly way to eliminate Benthic Harmful Algal Blooms(BHABs).To investigate the possible allelopathic interactions between seagrasses and P.concavum,a field survey was conducted to study the cell densities of P.concavum on four major substrates over 12 months.In laboratory,fresh Enhalus acoroides leaves and a crude aqueous extract of dry E.acoroides leaves were added to the culture of P.concavum respectively to assess possible effects on the growth and photosynthesis activities of P.concavum cells.Our results showed that the average abundance of P.concavum on E.acoroides leaves was statistically lower than that on the sediment outside the seagrass meadow and that on Thalassia hemperichii leaves.Both the growth and photosynthesis activities of P.concavum cells were inhibited in the two experiments,which can be attributed to the release and production of allelochemicals by E.acoroides.Our results offer new insights into the interaction between the submerged seagrass E.acoroides and the benthic harmful algal bloom dinoflagellate P.concavum,which can influence the abundance dynamics of P.concavum and provide an alternative for reducing potential threat of BHABs.

    • 摘要: The extraction of bioactive compounds has become one of the most interesting areas of modern chemistry.For therapeutic reasons,it´s important to obtain antimicrobial agents from natural origin.The objective of the present study was to determine the inhibitory effect of ethanolic extract of basil(Ocimum basilicum L.var.Red Rubin)subjected to different concentrations of potassium(K^(+))on the activity of three bacterial strains that are pathogens in humans.Susceptibility was evaluated by inhibition surface and these results were compared to two antibiotics:Gentamicin(GE)and Ciprofloxacin(CPF)for their efficacy against each bacterial strain.Analyzed variables presented significant difference(p≤0.05).According to the results,basil extract evaluated showed positive antibacterial activity against the three strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus on Mueller Hinton agar.It was observed highest inhibition areas of different diameters(15.3 mm,21.3 mm and 21.6 mm respectively)when the extract used was obtained from the plants with the highest concentration of potassium(13 mmol L-1).These values were even superior to the highest values showed on the treatments with the antibiotic gentamicin.

    • 摘要: Seaweeds are the natural marine algae which have several properties to act as natural preservatives to extend the shelf life of perishable foods without affecting their quality and causing side effects.Locally available and cheap fruits such as tomato are perishable very easily due to its high water content.Seaweed gel coating is a good choice,easily available and cheap natural preservative abundantly available in the Indian coasts.The present study was undertaken to extend the shelf life of the tomatoes using seaweed gel coating at different concentrations.Two seaweeds namely Kappaphycus alvarezii(red algae)and Sargassum tenerrimum(brown algae)was selected due to their high gelling property.Selected seaweeds were collected in dry form from Aqua Agri Processing Limited,Mana Madurai(SIPCOT)Tamil Nadu,India.The seaweed extracts were tested for phytonutrients,antibacterial and anti-fungal activity using standard procedures.The shelf life of seaweed coated tomatoes using different concentrations of the seaweed extract(gel)was tested.From the results,it is understood that the phytonutrients namely flavonoids,steroids,saponins and tannins are present in both the selected seaweeds.Antibacterial and antifungal activity of Kappaphycus alvarezii showed higher inhibition zone than S.tenerrimum against common pathogens.Quality characteristics and shelf life evaluation was based on water loss,texture,ascorbic acid content,juice content,total soluble solids(TSS),total acidity and TSS/total acidity ratio,respectively.The results pointed out that K.alvarezii was the most effective in maintaining the quality characteristics of tomato fruits and it also supports the fruit quality during storage period than S.tenerrimum.Thus,from the results of the study it is concluded that the better quality characteristics and shelf life of tomatoes can be increased by coating seaweed gel and it can be used as a bio preservative in fruit and vegetable preservation.

    • 摘要: Nine microorganisms, comprising of four bacteria, Erwinia carotovora, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia marcescens, Klebsiella oxytoca and five fungi, Rhizopus stolonifera, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Fusarium oxysporum and Penicillium marneffei, isolated from rotten yam tubers of 2016 harvest year, were treated with ten plants extracts (Passiflora edulis, Daniella oliveri, Ceiba pentandra, Jatropha tanjorensis, Azadrichta indica, Carica papaya, Moringa oleifera, Mangifera indica, Terminalia catapa and Senna alata), singly and synergistically by incorporation of extract in media for inhibition test. Two plant extracts singly and completely inhibited the growth of three organisms: Terminalia catapa at 100% and 10-1 showed complete inhibition (a) of Erwinia carotovora. Passiflora edulis at undiluted (100%) concentration completely inhibited Rhizopus stolonifer and Penicillium marneffei, respectively. Synergistic plant extract recorded complete inhibition (a) of all the four bacteria isolates at 2 mL extract incorporation;ten (10) mL extract incorporation in media recorded complete inhibition (a) of three out of the five fungi isolates: Rhizopus stolonifer, Fusarium oxysporum and Penicillium marneffei, respectively;the other two fungi recorded high inhibition (b) of Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus, respectively. Hot aqueous synergistic plants extract recorded poor inhibition of the isolates as compared to the cold. Soxhlet solvent extracted synergistic plants extract, however, recorded lower inhibition as compared to hot aqueous synergistic plants extract and cold aqueous synergistic plants extracts. Room temperature solvent extracted synergistic plants extracts recorded inhibition that was same as that obtained with cold aqueous synergistic plants extract. This research indicates that heat employed extractions recorded less inhibition activity.

    • 摘要: BACKGROUND Checkpoint-Inhibition has revolutionized the treatment for several entities such as melanoma and renal cell carcinoma.The first encouraging experience in ovarian cancer was reported for nivolumab,a fully humanized anti-programmed death-1 antibody.Pseudoprogression is a new phenomenon associated with these novel immuno-oncologic agents.It can be explained by infiltrating leucocytes and edema that result in a temporary increase in tumor size and delayed subsequent shrinkage due to tumor cell destruction.CASE SUMMARY We report on a 47-year old patient with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer that was treated off-label with nivolumab 3mg/kg iv d1q14d.She first experienced classic pseudoprogression with inguinal lymph node swelling after cycle two and subsequent shrinkage.After 6 cycles she presented with rectal bleeding and progressive disease was diagnosed due to new tumor infiltration into the rectum.CONCLUSION Clinicians should be aware of pseudoprogression,its underlying mechanisms and strategies to discriminate pseudo-from real progression in ovarian cancer.

    • 摘要: Consciousness is the unified, structured, subjective experience that we all share. The Default Space Theory has been proposed as a unified theory of consciousness that includes the brain and body in describing the infrastructure of consciousness. We have presented the theory in journals with a variety of academic specialties;however, the model is continually being developed. Due to the current state of science on the nature of conscious experience lacking hard data, the theory’s concepts must thoroughly explain and shoulder phenomenological observations including the phenomenology of deficits of consciousness. According to the theory, the thalamus serves as a central hub which networks the globally distributed, and continuous fast oscillations not only among the brain, but also the eyes, ears, skin, and other sensory organs. These oscillations form the virtual template of external space within the mind in which external sensory information is integrated into this pre-existing, dynamic space. In this article, we explore phenomenological support for our theory of conscious experience in which such experience resides entirely in such a virtual space, termed the default space. In order to provide such support, we discuss simple personal experiments and observations which anyone can partake along with phenomenal symptoms of clinical deficits. We encourage readers to perform the personal experiments we describe in order to gain an understanding of the various concepts of the theory. The neurological deficits we elucidate not only support the theory but clarify obscurities surrounding these conditions. We assert the support we give in our theory here will advance the uphill struggle many paramount theories face in gaining initial acceptance. Further research is needed in order to acquire empirical evidence for the veracity of our theory.
