    • 摘要: China's commitment and contribution to multilateralism is laudable.IN his Lunar New Year greetings video,United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres took the opportunity on Chinese New Year’s Eve to commend China for its commitment to multilateralism.The global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic,as well as climate change,continues in February 2022,which has also seen heated and ominous disagreements that threaten dire conflict.All present challenges unprecedented in recent history.Amid this turmoil,Guterres declared that the Olympic spirit,as represented by the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics,“shines as a beacon of human solidarity.”Such acknowledgement and words of goodwill from the world’s top diplomat are merited in light of China’s key contributions to multilateralism over decades,most specifically during the last several years.They are evident in three distinctive examples.

    • 摘要: Adult neurogenesis is the life-long process of neural stem cell proliferation,differentiation into neurons,migration,and incorporation into the existing neuronal circuits.After decades of research,it is now widely accepted that mammals and birds retain the capacity to regenerate neurons even after their subadult ontogeny.Cerebrospinal fluid participates in the regulation of the neurogenic niches of the vertebrate brain through signaling pathways not fully elucidated.Proteomic studies of cerebrospinal fluid have the potential to allow the in-depth characterization of its molecular composition.Comparative studies help to delineate those pathways that are universally critical for the regulation of neurogenesis in adulthood.In this review,we performed literature-based data mining in studies using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy that analyzed cerebrospinal fluid samples from healthy adult humans(Homo sapiens);mice(Mus musculus);sheep(Ovis aries);chickens(Gallus gallus);and two parrot species,the budgerigar(Melopsittacus undulatus)and cockatiel(Nymphicus hollandicus).We identified up to 911 proteins represented in cerebrospinal fluid,involved in various pathways regulating adult neurogenesis.However,only 196 proteins were common across humans,mice,and birds.Pathway components involved in nervous system development,cell migration,and axonal guidance were commonly evident in all species investigated so far.Extensive bioinformatic analysis revealed that the universally over-represented pathways involved L1 cell adhesion molecule protein interactions,cell-adhesion molecules,signals regulating extracellular matrix remodeling,regulation of insulin growth factor signaling,axonal guidance,programmed cell death,immune signaling,and post-translational modifications.Most of the reported proteins are part of extracellular vesicles enriched in cerebrospinal fluid.However,the information presently available is still highly fragmentary,and far more questions persist than are answered.Technological advances will allow cerebrospinal fluid comparative proteomic research to delve into the fundamental processes of adult neurogenesis and eventually translate this research into any regenerative interventions.

    • 摘要: Progesterone is an endogenous steroid hormone with an important role for the physiology of the female reproductive system and the mammary gland.It has additional significant actions in other tissues,such as the cardiovascular system,the central nervous system,and bones.The present article explores potential clinical implications from the addition of bioidentical progesterone to genderaffirming treatment of trans women.For this purpose,it provides an overview of the physiological action of progesterone in target tissues and speculates on possible benefits for gender transitioning.Progesterone is expected to exert moderate anti-androgen action through suppression of the hypothalamicpituitary-gonadal axis and inhibition of the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone.It may also contribute to breast maturation.In the long-term,progesterone could prevent bone loss and protect cardiovascular health.The potential benefits are mainly inferred by extrapolating evidence from biological actions in cisgender women and medical assumptions and hence,clinicians need to be cautious when applying these data into practice.Further research is needed to ascertain the efficacy and safety of progesterone in current hormonal regimens.

    • 摘要: Dear editor:You may have often come across with differences between Islamic and secular societies regarding euthanasia,Do Not-Resuscitation,postmortem care,abortion,and the use of artificial respiration[1-6].These differences originate from Islamic view’s human dignity.According to Islam,human beings have dignity because they were created by God[5,6].Therefore,life is trusted to us by God and humans cannot decide to keep or give it up and must safe keep it.This is in contrast with secular view,which attributes dignity to free will and hence,regards life as a right at the possession of human beings.From the viewpoint of Islam,God has trusted human being with their lives and mankind finds dignity through this trust.According to Islamic views,Muslims are not entitled to make decisions about their lives,for it belongs to God and it has merely been left to us in trust[7].

    • 摘要: 近年来,数字技术快速发展并得到广泛应用,在给人们带来便利的同时,也产生了流程僵化等问题,尤其在应对突发事件时,更凸显了流程僵化导致的系统的脆弱性.由此,加快从刚性自动化向柔性自主性的转变,实现以人为本的柔性设计,并构建面向未来智造的人系统集成系统成为当下的研究重点.«DesignforFlexibility:aHumanSystemsIntegrationApproach»一书阐述了柔性设计的概念、方法和过程,提出社会技术系统柔性分析框架,介绍了人系统集成(HumanGsystemintegration,HSI)这一新兴学科,为处理突发事件并提出问题解决方案提供了工具和方法,相应研究成果有望为提高设计和操作柔性、促进人机交互效率、构建可持续发展的社会技术系统提供理论支撑.HSI作为一门新学科,旨在将以人为本的设计理念融入复杂系统工程的全生命周期过程,为以人为本的柔性设计提供了方法论,同时也为人本设计、人本智造等研究提供了参考.
