    • 摘要: This work investigated the changes in properties of saliva-participating emulsions during different oral processing stages(the whole process from intake to swallowing was divided into five stages,i.e.,20%,40%,60%,80%and 100%stage).The stewed pork with brown sauce was masticated and the emulsion was collected for the determination of emulsion stability,droplet size,ζ-potential,interfacial tension,and microstructure.The results showed that the emulsion stability increased gradually during the oral processing and reached the highest level near the swallowing point.The droplet size of emulsion showed a significant downward trend(P<0.05).Microstructure observations also found different degrees of reduction in fat droplets size at different stages of oral processing.In addition,theζ-potential of food boluses emulsion was decreased from-16.4 mV to-41.2 mV and the interfacial tension decreased by 52.6%before and after oral progressing.In conclusion,the oral processing of stewed pork with brown sauce was essentially a process in which fat was constantly emulsified,and saliva might act as an emulsifier.This study provides new insights on understanding the oral processing process and sensory changes of fat.

    • 摘要: Effects of added fat in sow diets on the sows’reproductive performance and offspring growth performance are influenced by multiple factors such as genetics,nutrition,parity,ambient temperatures,and farm management.Individual studies cannot cover all these factors.With the view to address this challenge,we searched all studies that were published from 1986 to 2020,and performed a systematic review and meta-analysis on the fat effect.In total,19 papers were collected and analyzed.Fat supplementation in sow diets during late gestation and lactation decreased average daily feed intake(ADFI,P<0.05)and tended to increase average daily energy intake(ADEI,P=0.11).It had no impact on litter weights at birth(P=0.40)or weaning(P=0.46).It increased total numbers of piglets at birth(P=0.07),but had no effect on liveborn per litter(P=0.90)or survival rate(P=0.48)of piglets to weaning.Fat supplementation had no significant effect on sow body weight loss(P=0.67)or backfat thickness changes(P=0.66),but sows fed diets with added fat had increased milk fat concentration(P=0.03)and shorter wean to estrus intervals(WEI,P=0.01).In specific circumstances,fat supplementation tended to improve growth performance of piglets with low litter weights at birth(P=0.14),or when the sows lost large amounts of body weight during lactation(P=0.11).The level of supplemented fat was 10%and higher would decrease liveborn per litter at neutral temperature(P=0.10).The meta-analysis revealed that fat supplementation to sows diet during late gestation and lactation can be beneficial for sow reproductive performance and litter growth performance.

    • 摘要: BACKGROUND Obesity is a disease state with serious adverse metabolic complications,including glucose intolerance and type 2 diabetes that currently has no cure.Identifying and understanding roles of various modulators of body composition and glucose homeostasis is required for developing effective cures.Syndecan-1(Sdc1) is a member of the heparan sulfate proteoglycan family that has mainly been investigated for its role in regulating proliferation and survival of epithelia and tumor cells,but little is known about its roles in regulating obesity and glucose homeostasis.AIM To examine the role of Sdc1 in regulating body fat and glucose metabolism.METHODS We used female wild type and Sdc1 knockout(Sdc1 KO) mice on BALB/c background and multiple methods.Metabolic measurements(rates of oxygen consumption,carbon dioxide production,respiratory exchange ratio and energy expenditure) were performed using an open-flow indirect calorimeter with additional features to measure food intake and physical activity.Glucose intolerance and insulin resistance were measured by established tolerance test methods.RESULTS Although our primary goal was to investigate the effects of Sdc1 deficiency on body fat and glucose homeostasis,we uncovered that Sdc1 regulates multiple metabolic parameters.Sdc1 KO mice have reduced body weight due to significant decreases in fat and lean masses under both chow and high fat diet conditions.The reduced body weight was not due to changes in food intakes,but Sdc1 KO mice exhibited altered feeding behavior as they ate more during the dark phase and less during the light phase than wild type mice.In addition,Sdc1 KO mice suffered from high rate of energy expenditure,glucose intolerance and insulin resistance.CONCLUSION These results reveal critical multisystem and opposing roles for Sdc1 in regulating normal energy balance and glucose homeostasis.The results will have important implications for targeting Sdc1 to modulate metabolic parameters.Finally,we offer a novel hypothesis that could reconcile the opposing roles associated with Sdc1 deficiency.

    • 摘要: Obesity is associated with adverse metabolic diseases including cardiovascular disease(CVD) and chronic kidney disease(CKD).These obesity-related diseases are highly associated with excess fat accumulation in adipose tissue.However,emerging evidence indicates that visceral adiposity associates more with metabolic and cardiovascular risk factors.Perirenal adipose tissue,surrounding the kidney,is originally thought to provides only mechanical support for kidney.However,more studies demonstrated perirenal adipose tissue have a closer association with renal disease than other visceral fat deposits in obesity.Additionally,perirenal adipose tissue is also an independent risk factor for CKD and even associated more with CVD.Thus,perirenal adipose tissue may be a connection of CVD with CKD.Here,we will provide an overview of the perirenal adipose tissue,a neglected visceral adipose tissue,and the roles of perirenal adipose tissue linking with CVD and CKD and highlight the perirenal adipose tissue as a potential strategy for future therapeutics against obesity-related disease.

    • 摘要: 由于非洲猪瘟(ASF)缺乏预防用疫苗,为防止疫病的传播,就需要实施严格的卫生和生物安全控制措施,而这就依赖于疫病的快速、可靠的早期诊断。ASF的诊断是指确诊动物正在感染或者曾经感染过非洲猪瘟病毒(ASFV)。因此,适用的诊断技术包括检测和识别ASFV特异性抗原、DNA或抗体的技术,所获取的检测信息也是控制和根除计划的重要保障。在选择诊断技术时,分析疫病感染期非常重要(图1)。由于感染动物所处的感染期不同,因此在疫情和控制/根除计划中,需要同时检测病毒和抗体以确保准确性。
