Dear editor,This letter focuses on the encoding-decoding-based recursive filtering problem for a class of fractional-order systems.For the purpose of protecting security of the wireless communication network,a dynamic-quantization-based encoding-decoding mechanism is introduced to encrypt the transmitted measurement.Specifically,the measurement outputs are first encoded by the encoder into codewords which are then transmitted over the wireless communication network.After received by the decoder,the codewords are decoded and then sent to the filter.In light of the mathematical properties of truncated Gaussian distribution,the variance of the encoding-decoding-induced error between the decoded measurement and the real measurement is derived.An upper bound on the filtering error covariance is first obtained based on the variance of the encoding-decoding-induced error.Then,the minimal upper bound is derived by choosing proper filter gain.Finally,the efficiency and superiority of the proposed algorithm are verified through a simulation example.

Atmospheric stellar occultation observation technology is an advanced space-based detection technology that can measure the vertical distribution of trace gas composition,temperature,and aerosol content in a planet’s atmosphere.In this study,an inversion algorithm of the onion-peeling method was constructed to invert the transmittance obtained from the forward mask.The method used a three-dimensional ray-tracing simulation to obtain the transmission path of the light in the Earth’s atmosphere.The relevant parameters were then combined in the high-resolution transmission molecular absorption(HITRAN)database,and line-by-line integration was performed to calculate the atmospheric transmittance.The transmittance value was then used as an input to calculate the vertical distribution of oxygen molecules when using the single-wavelength inversion of the onion-peeling method.Finally,the oxygen molecule content was compared with the value attained by the Mass Spectrometer and Incoherent Scatter Radar Extended(MSISE00)atmospheric model to determine the relative error of our model.The maximum error was found to be 0.3%,which is low enough to verify the reliability of our algorithm.Using Global-scale Observations of the Limb and Disk(GOLD)measured data to invert the oxygen number density,we calculated its relative deviation from the published result to further verify the algorithm.The inversion result was affected by factors such as prior data,the absorption spectral line type,the ellipticity of the Earth,and the accuracy of the orbit.Analysis of these error-influencing factors showed that the seasons and the Earth’s ellipticity affected the accuracy of the model only 0.001%and could therefore be ignored.However,latitude and solar activity had a greater impact on accuracy,on the order of 0.1%.The absorption line type affected the accuracy of the model by as much as 1%.All three of these factors therefore need to be considered during the inversion process.

At the High Energy Photon Source(HEPS),a high orbital stability of typically 10%of the beam size and angular divergence must be achieved.The beam size at the insertion devices is 10 lm horizontally and 1 lm vertically,which implies that the beam orbit must be stabilized to the sub-micrometer level.This results in stringent tolerance and quality control requirements for the series production of beam position monitor(BPM)pickups.In this study,analytical formulas were used and CST simulations were performed to analyze the effects of the mechanical tolerances of BPM pickups on beam position measurement.The results of electromagnetic field simulations revealed how various mechanical errors,such as button size and location accuracy,as well as the related button capacitance,exert different influences on the beam position measurement.The performance of an actual BPM pickup was measured,along with an assessment of the error on the beam position measurement.Additionally,a wakefield analysis,including an investigation of trapped resonant modes and related thermal deformation,was conducted.

Generalized Least Squares (least squares with prior information) requires the correct assignment of two prior covariance matrices: one associated with the uncertainty of measurements;the other with the uncertainty of prior information. These assignments often are very subjective, especially when correlations among data or among prior information are believed to occur. However, in cases in which the general form of these matrices can be anticipated up to a set of poorly-known parameters, the data and prior information may be used to better-determine (or “tune”) the parameters in a manner that is faithful to the underlying Bayesian foundation of GLS. We identify an objective function, the minimization of which leads to the best-estimate of the parameters and provide explicit and computationally-efficient formula for calculating the derivatives needed to implement the minimization with a gradient descent method. Furthermore, the problem is organized so that the minimization need be performed only over the space of covariance parameters, and not over the combined space of model and covariance parameters. We show that the use of trade-off curves to select the relative weight given to observations and prior information is not a form of tuning, because it does not, in general maximize the posterior probability of the model parameters, and can lead to a different weighting than the procedure described here. We also provide several examples that demonstrate the viability, and discuss both the advantages and limitations of the method.

This article focuses on the mathematical modelling of the extraction process of bioactive compounds from grape marc and berries (Aronia, rosehip, rowan, and hawthorn). The composition of the extraction medium (the concentration of the ethyl alcohol) served as a factor of influence. Furthermore, 8 experimental measured parameters were used as variables. The experimental results were processed using Hermite polynomials. In order to adapt the degree of the polynomial, the following conditions were imposed: high precision of the mathematical model by appealing to models on interval;obtaining a nominal model and two uncertain models (upper and lower);deduction of two predictive models, one superior and one inferior. It was found that the mathematical models based on Hermite polynomials do not provide explicit analytical expressions, although they allow the establishment of parameter values for any concentration of the extraction medium. In some cases, only high-grade polynomial models ensure the modelling error below 2%. Uncertain models (upper and lower 95%) include all experimental data. Predictive mathematical models (upper and lower) were established for a high prediction. The analytical expressions of the mathematical models on intervals are non-gaps, the coefficients having non-zero values. Dependencies between the measured parameters and the composition of the extraction solvent were analyzed, the results being presented through the calculation of a surface, with all the experimental values and their average values. Thus, it was found that polynomial mathematical models provide complete information for modelling the extraction processes of bioactive compounds of plant origin.
