    • 摘要: Loitering munitions are increasingly used in armed conflicts.An extensive database of loitering munitions is developed based on information available in the public domain.This database includes dimensions,weights,and performance parameters such as flight endurance and communication range.Based upon this dataset,6 categories of loitering munitions are identified and statistical trends in the form of equations are provided for each category.The statistical trends are supported by aircraft performance theory tailored to loitering munitions applications.Altogether,the combination of the database,statistical trends and aircraft performance theory can be used to analyse the flight performance and design considerations of new loitering munitions of which only limited non-technical information is available in the public domain such as pictures and news articles.Based on the statistical trends and aircraft performance theory it is concluded that for long range applications,the preferred design solution is the conventional configuration.The cruciform configuration is beneficial in case precision flight path control is of prime importance.The tandem wing configuration combines the benefits of a canister launch and relatively high aspect ratio wings suitable for long range flight.Finally,the delta wing design provides a large internal volume and a high terminal attack airspeed.Two example case studies are included to illustrate the flight performance capabilities of two types of loitering munitions used in the current conflict in Yemen(a long range conventional design and a delta wing configuration).

    • 摘要: This work proposed an architectural alternative project of a stainless steel roof structure that uses roof tiles also in stainless steel with emphasis on roofs for multi-sport gymnasiums.In the development of the work,two existing multi-sports gymnasiums are taken as a reference,but with ASTM(American Society for Testing and Materials)A36 steel roof structure.The proposed cover system uses cables and light gauge profiles,in commercial stainless steel,which reduces the weight and of course the final price of the roof structure.A structure that presents technical feasibility is obtained and analyzed by checking its behavior with respect to the efforts and displacements generated by the combinations of the acting loads,following the safety recommendations of the applicable standard.It is verified that using the stainless steel structure proposed in this work would cost 42%of the reference structure if this were in AISI(American Iron and Steel Institute)304 stainless steel.And this cost tends to be minimized due to greater durability and consequent reduction in maintenance costs of this type of steel.

    • 摘要: An experimental unit was built which was located in the vicinity of the domestic wastewater treatment plant of the Municipality of San Marcos in the Department of Carazo. Said unit consisted of two welded metal barrels with a total height of 1.8 m and a diameter of 0.90 m, likewise, this unit comprised three functional zones;the first or input area composed of a collection unit, a driving unit, a flow control unit, and two distribution units;the second or packed zone, which is the axis of the system because it is there where bacterial growth takes place and where the removal of organic matter takes place;and an outlet composed of PVC pipe [1]. The main objective of this work was to determine how efficient a rocky filter turns out to be, using stabilization pond effluent as a post-treatment unit using red concrete as a filter medium. The study consisted in carrying out laboratory tests on water samples taken from the influent and effluent of a filter made up of red rock, as a filter medium, in order to determine the percentage of organic matter removal efficiency that it has used a hydraulic retention time of 19 hours, 15 hours, and 12 hours [2]. Among the aspects to be considered in the experimental study was the characterization of the effluent from the treatment system of San Marco, Carazo, to determine the quality of water that will be of interest to the study [3]. In this stage, four composite samplings were carried out, two of 12 hours and two of 24 hours, in which physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters were analyzed. Likewise, to determine the efficiency of the filter, the same parameters considered in the characterization of the lagoon effluent were analyzed, obtaining removal efficiencies of up to 55.53% in organic matter, and 64.60% in suspended solids for a hydraulic retention time of 19 hours;In the same way, the efficiency of the filter was carried out for retention times of 15 hours and 12 hours, in which organic matter removals of 67.84% and 56.59% and 82.77% and 77.51% in total suspended solids were found, respectively.

    • 摘要: Starting from the background and significance of the development and design of the network course of traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy specialty formed by introducing Guangxi minority medicine,this paper discusses the teaching design scheme and module construction of the network course in the development process,and summarizes the design,production and construction experience of the network course.Through practice,the teaching effect and achievement of the network course of traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy specialty formed by introducing Guangxi minority medicine are obvious.

    • 摘要: The components required for artificial photosynthesis including light absorbers and catalysts are being developed at a rapid rate.In many cases,the anodic and cathodic reactions driven with these systems are optimized for significantly different pH conditions,raising the issue of how they can be made compatible.Recent work from our group has shown that large pH gradients can be maintained during electrolysis using BPM(bipolar membrane)and that electronic/ionic membranes can be used to couple the two half reactions without the use of external wiring and reducing the ohmic drop in the system.This study investigates the properties of composite BPMs designed for artificial photosynthetic devices that require half reactions to operate under different pH conditions.Details of performance as a function of the nature of the composites and methods of creating BPMs are detailed.

    • 摘要: The paper presents the construction of a steel footbridge in the People’s Park in Lublin.The initiation and development of the architectural design of an interesting and,as it eventually turned out,aesthetically pleasing footbridge is discussed.Two teams of architects and bridge engineers worked in parallel on the design.The design process of the footbridge structure is discussed along with its trial installation and on-site construction.The span of the footbridge is short,but its structure is innovative.For this reason its numerical model was developed used as a basis for an analysis of the dynamic response of the designed structure.The basic element of the acceptance procedure was constituted by a dynamic test load and an analysis of the pedestrian footbridge user comfort.Last but not least,the final section reviews the aesthetic canons of bridges and focuses on the footbridge in question in this context.A statistical measure of the aesthetic impression induced by a visit to the footbridge was applied resulting in a predictable and obvious final aesthetical assessment.

    • 摘要: Piezoelectric(PZ)energy has been paid attention to as conventional renewable energy sources including solar,wind,and geothermal power.To address the dilemma of climatic conditions affecting the energy harvesting using Lead Zirconate Titanate(PZT)in pavement,wafer-boxes were used with embedded PZT sensors,since wafer-boxes have the ability to be embedded in the pavement where sensors are protected from any kind of physical damage.This research project was designed to identify which shaped wafer-box produced the most electric voltage and power.Various forms of wafer-box were developed to identify if there was any potential difference in voltage generation due to the structural shapes of the box.Seven different shapes of prototype wafer-boxes were designed utilizing both a 3D printer and 3D Computer Aided Design(CAD).These wafer-boxes were coupled with embedded PZT sensors which were tested in asphalt pavement analyzer(APA)machine under certain load to produce electric voltage.Collected voltage data from the APA wheel load test(WLT)were analyzed using various statistical methods.The statistical analyses results indicated that out of the seven different shaped wafer-boxes,the right-angled triangular shaped box produced the highest average voltage values where’s square shaped wafer-box produced the lowest amount of voltage.Structural properties of a wafer-box in terms of section modulus,area moment of inertia,extreme points,and radius of gyration were also analyzed,and a regression analysis was conducted to identify the reasons of different amounts of voltage produced.These voltage values could be used to calculate the power using power formulas showing relationship between power and voltage values.The outcome helped to identify which shape is most effective to power generation under certain circumstances.The regression analysis results indicated that out of four properties the section modulus is the most influential structural property affecting voltage production.

    • 摘要: The deep connection between Design and Innovation has its origin from the meaning and from the interpretation of these two terms.This is more significant if we apply a cross-disciplinary point of view to read the contemporary scenario where processes related to product design innovation are developed.Design is not only what teachers and professionals intend about it:it is very important,at the same time,the meaning of design for the“outside world”,for users,customers,buyers,…According to its positive perception,society and economy now confers the Design discipline a leading role,but it can reasonably be expected that,at the same speed of its development,the importance of Design could one day start to decrease.The methodology used in the present article is an etymological analysis,associated with a lecture of what experts mean about Design and Innovation.A case study and the didactical experience of the author supported the conclusion.

    • 摘要: Cyclists belong to the group of vulnerable road users and, thus, need particular protection in road traffic. One way to enhance cyclists’ safety is to use urban data (e.g., infrastructure data, accident statistics) to inform cyclists about potentially dangerous areas, allowing them to better adjust to the situation and elevate their self-protection. However, the question is how to inform cyclists about such dangerous areas. In this paper, we present the results of two field studies, investigating two wearables (headphones vs. smart glasses) and different signal options to inform cyclists about dangerous areas. Study participants were cycling along a predefined track and could experience the different wearables and signals. The main aim of the studies was to find out how cyclists perceive and experience the different approaches. Participants’ impressions were captured with questionnaires and interviews. Our results show a clear preference of the headphones over the smart glasses and signaling with intermittent audio while being in the dangerous area. However, we also found that participants’ acceptance of the approach was influenced by the additional perceived benefit the respective wearable would have in daily life. Using a wearable solely to be warned, although this would increase safety, was less acceptable. We discuss the implications of these findings for the design of cyclist warning systems.

    • 摘要: This paper presents a new design of CADEL,a cable-driven elbow-assisting device,with light weighting and control improvements.The new device design is appropriate to be more portable and user-oriented solution,presenting additional facilities with respect to the original design.One of potential benefits of improved portability can be envisaged in the possibility of house and hospital usage keeping social distancing while allowing rehabilitation treatments even during a pandemic spread.Specific attention has been devoted to design main mechatronic components by developing specific kinematics models.The design process includes an implementation of specific control hardware and software.The kinematic model of the new design is formulated and features are evaluated through numerical simulations and experimental tests.An evaluation from original design highlights the proposed improvements mainly in terms of comfort,portability and user-oriented operation.
