摘要： HE Yejun received the Ph.D.degree in information and communication engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST),China in 2005.From 2005 to 2006,he was a research associate with the Depart-ment of Electronic and Information Engineering,The Hong Kong Polytechnic University,China.From 2006 to 2007,he was a research associate with the Department of Electronic Engineering,Faculty of Engineering,The Chi-nese University of Hong Kong,China.In 2012,he was a visiting professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,University of Waterloo,Canada.From 2013 to 2015,he was an advanced visiting scholar(visiting professor)with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering,Georgia Institute of Technology,USA.Dr.HE has been a full professor with the College of Electronics and Information Engineering.

摘要： Li Jiajun was the only Chinese skater in the finals of the men’s 1000m short track speed skating at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano,Japan.The rest of the field were skaters from Canada,the United States,and the Republic of Korea(ROK).In the medal race,Li placed second,just 0.053 seconds off the leader.Li’s outstanding performance made him China’s first male athlete to win a Winter Olympic medal.

摘要： In March 2022,permanent operations began in Germany for 14 hydrogen-powered trains—“Coradia iLints”(Fig.1)—built by France’s Alstom(Saint-Ouen),one of the world’s largest train manufacturers[1].Running on a regional line between Buxtehude,near Hamburg,and the coastal town of Cuxhaven,the new service caps an 18-month,commercial demonstration trial in which a pair of Coradia iLints transported passengers across more than 200000 km while spewing nothing but water vapor into the air.“Alstom’s cars are groundbreaking in terms of running in lowdensity,rural areas of Germany where it is hard to provide electrical power and you do not see big-city ridership volumes,”said Gordon Lovegrove,associate professor of civil engineering at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver,BC,Canada.“The iLint beautifully fills a needed gap of onboard,zero-emission electrification.”

摘要： Background: Although the number of older immigrants and the prevalence of elder abuse are increasing in Canada, little is known about their experience of risk factors for elder abuse. This study examined Arabic-speaking older immigrants’ perception of the factors that increase the risk for elder abuse. Methods: Older Arabic-speaking women (n = 24) and men (n = 31) completed a questionnaire that inquired about the perceived frequency and importance of factors that contribute to elder abuse. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. Results: Older women identified lack of English language proficiency, social isolation, and financial dependence as the most frequent, and lack of English language proficiency, income, and sponsorship status as the most important risk factors. Older men rated social isolation, lack of English language proficiency, and financial dependence as the most frequent, and social isolation, racialized, cultural or ethnic group status, and lack of English language proficiency as the most important factors contributing to elder abuse. Conclusion: Offering language-specific services, designing tailored outreach programs to address social isolation, and addressing systemic barriers that create financial dependence can help prevent elder abuse in Arabic-speaking immigrant communities.

摘要： The article addresses various musical manifestations associated with Christianity and church music in the Global Age.The review summarizes three different case studies conducted by the author in Israel and Western Canada over the past two decades.These studies,viewed in the article through various lenses and considered as three different sociocultural narratives,tell the reader about how music,consciously or unconsciously,defines the contours of the cultural and religious identity of the groups whose members are natives or resettled residents of the Holy Land,Old and New Worlds,and China.An updated analysis of ethnographic data points to local cultures as the true indicators of global change.The dialogue between religions by means of musical composition is given as an example of the philosophical and conceptual milestone of the Global Age.A review of the problems accompanying the work of a modern ethnographer completes the range of topics.

摘要： In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001,a great lull fell over North America,above and below the water.Understandably,fewer people were traveling by air.But ship traffic was also significantly reduced,even as far north as the Bay of Fundy in Canada.As a result,underwater noise in the bay dropped by an incredible six decibels,and sounds at pitches below 150 Hz were significantly reduced.
