    • 摘要: Sub-wavelength grating is a critical element in micro and nano-photonics. So its fabrication and application have attracted a great deal of research attention. While the existing lithography technologies of sub-wavelength grating fabrication have some insufficient points, such as high cost, low output, technical complexity, or difficult to change the period of the sub-wavelength grating. In this paper, an adjustable period and large area sub-wavelength grating with low cost and maskless is proposed and theoretically realized. The sub-wavelength grating is inscribed by the interference between two TE0 waveguide modes, where the TE0 waveguide mode is existent in an asymmetric metal-cladding dielectric waveguide structure excited by the prism coupling method. The dispersion curve of TE0 waveguide mode, the relationship between the period of the sub-wavelength grating and the exciting light source, the refractive index of the prism and the photoresist, especially the thickness of the photoresist are theoretically analyzed in detail. The distribution of the interference optical field of TE0 waveguide mode in the multilayer structure including metal film, photoresist and air layer is numerically simulated using the finite element method. The shorter the exciting light wavelength with the identical photoresist condition, the smaller the period of sub-wavelength grating inscribed by TE0 waveguide modes interference lithography is. For further studying the influences of refractive index and thickness of photoresist and the refractive index of the prism on the period of sub-wavelength grating, the exciting light with 442 nm wavelength and the Ag matel film are used. The period of sub-wavelength grating is smaller with thicker photoresist film, when the refractive indexes of photoresist and prism are the same. The larger refractive index of photoresist is beneficial to inscribing the sub-wavelength grating with smaller period when the refractive index of prism and the thickness of photoresist are identical. The prism with higher refractive index can provide wave vector-matching condition with lager propagation constant, and can inscribe sub-wavelength grating with smaller period. Compared with surface plasmons interference lithography which needs the thicker photoresist film due to the finite penetration depth of SPs, TE0 waveguide modes interference can realize adjustable period sub-wavelength grating writing for thicker photoresist condition by changing exciting light source, the refractive index of prism, the refractive index of photoresist and especially the thickness of photoresist. The realization of adjustable period sub-wavelength grating inscribed by TE0 waveguide modes interference lithography will provide important theoretical support for reducing the fabrication cost of sub-wavelength gratings and broadening the application scope of sub-wavelength grating.

    • 摘要: 本文构建了一种包含石墨烯和亚波长光栅的复合结构,借助衍射光栅的导模共振效应,在石墨烯表面激发高局域性表面等离子体激元,研究了石墨烯与光栅结构对表面等离子体激元局域特性的影响规律,并借助基于有限元法的COMSOL软件,分析了缓冲层厚度、光栅周期、载流子迁移率和费米能级对石墨烯的表面电场、品质因子Q和有效模式面积Seff的影响.结果表明,石墨烯表面等离子体激元的局域性在特定的参数点获得显著提高:当µ=0.7 m2/(V·s)时,品质因子达到最大值Qmax=1793;当p=235 nm或EF=0.72 eV时,表面电场达到了入射光的3000倍以上.强烈的局域性导致强烈的光-物质相互作用,因而本文提出的复合结构可实现高灵敏度传感器和高效率的非线性光学设备,极大地扩展了石墨烯在纳米光学领域中的应用.%Graphene is a one-atom-thick planar sheet of sp2-bonded carbon atoms that are densely packed in a honeycomb crystal lattice. Graphene has been found to support plasmons in a wide range from infrared to terahertz. The confinement of plasmons in graphene is stronger than that on metallic surface. Moreover, the plasmon properties can be dynamically adjusted by doping or grating graphene. In this study, a composite structure comprised of graphene and subwavelength grating is proposed. Highly confined plasmons in graphene are excited by using a diffraction grating with guided mode resonance effect. The wave vector of plasmonic wave in graphene is far larger than that of light in vacuum. To excite plasmons in graphene with a freespace optical wave, their large difference in wave vector must be overcome. Optical gratings are widely used to compensate for wave vector mismatches. A diffraction wave generated by the grating structure can overcome the large wave vector difference and excite surface plasmons. The guided-mode resonance can greatly enhance the intensity of the diffraction field and the coupling effciency between graphene and incident light. When the phase matching between illuminating wave and a guide mode supported by grating is achieved, guided-mode resonance effect occurs. A nearly 100%diffraction effciency peak in the reflection or transmission spectrum occurs at a certain wavelength. In this study, the influences of graphene and grating structure on the local characteristics (the surface electric field Ex/Ein, quality factor Q, and effective mode area Seff) of surface plasmons are investigated. The effects of the structural parameters (the thickness of the buffer layer T2, the grating period p, the carrier mobility µ, and the Fermi level EF) on localization properties are analyzed by the finite element method (COMSOL). The results reveal that the localizations of the surface plasmons in the graphene surface is significantly improved at the certain parameters. 1) The increase of T2 will reduce the intensity of electric field on graphene (Ex/Ein), but the quality factor will obtain a certain increase. The excition of highly confined SPPs needs to improve Q and keep the intensity of Ex/Ein , so in this study T2=10 nm. 2) By adjusting µ the quality factor of SPPs can be improved significantly without changing the resonance frequency (µ=0.7 m2(V·s), Qmax =1793). 3) Small changes in p and EF will make the resonance peak shift obviously, and the electric field on graphene is greatly enhanced (p=235 nm, Ex/Ein=3154;EF=0.72 eV, and Ex/Ein=3968). Strong localization leads to strong light-matter interaction, and thus the proposed structure has the potential to be used as sensors with high sensitivity and high-effciency nonlinear optical devices, greatly expanding the application of graphene in nano optics.

    • 摘要: 通过棱镜耦合激发非对称金属包覆介质波导结构中的TE_0导波模式,利用两束TE_0模的干涉从理论上实现了周期可调的亚波长光栅刻写.分析了TE_0模式的色散关系,刻写亚波长光栅的周期与激发光源、棱镜折射率、光刻胶薄膜厚度及折射率之间的关系.用有限元方法数值模拟了金属薄膜、光刻胶薄膜和空气多层结构中TE_0导模的干涉场分布.研究发现,激发光源波长越短,TE_0模干涉刻写的亚波长光栅周期越小;光刻胶越厚,刻写的亚波长光栅周期越小;高折射率光刻胶有利于更小周期亚波长光栅的刻写.相较于表面等离子体干涉光刻,基于TE_0模的干涉可在厚光刻胶条件下通过改变激发光源、棱镜折射率、光刻胶材料折射率、特别是光刻胶薄膜的厚度等多种方式实现对亚波长光栅周期的有效调控.

    • 摘要: [目的]通过求解矩形波导模式特征方程,计算矩形波导横向场分布,研究电磁波在单负材料矩形波导中的传播特性以及该波导参数对其导模Exmn的影响规律.[方法]基于电磁场的波动理论和马卡梯里假设,利用图解法对波导有效折射率及横向电场分布进行求解,并分析波导模式的频率色散关系.[结果]该矩形波导的传播模式Ex0n和Exln为x方向衰减的表面模,仅当m>1时,波导的传播模式才是振荡导模;固定波导芯子层厚度不变,当导波频率增大时,高阶模向高频方向移动的速度比低阶的快;保持m>1,当m或n增大时,Exmn模式的截止点均向波导孔径增大的方向移动,且相邻模式的截止间距相等.[结论]单负材料包层的矩形波导既支持存在低阶表面模的条件,也支持存在高阶振荡导模的条件,波导孔径大小对导波模有很好的调制效果,可实现宽孔径多模传输和小孔径单模传输的功能.
