摘要： Bamboo and rattan can be strategic solutions to some of the most pressing global challenges.BAMBOO and rattan can mitigate pressing global challenges,particularly climate change,desertification and biodiversity.That’s why the versatile plants are incorporated as nature-based solutions into agroforestry policies globally.This is the mission of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization(INBAR),a multilateral intergovernmental institution headquartered in Beijing.Established in 1997,the organization currently has 48 member countries from Asia-Pacific,Africa,the Americas,and Oceania.Borja De La Pe馻Escardo,global policy officer at INBAR,joined the organization in 2018 and took China Today behind the scenes for a look at bamboo’s potential and the role INBAR is playing to maximize this potential in China and around the world.

摘要： In recent years,the European Union(EU)nurtured the concept of“strategic autonomy”and clearly expressed its ambition to act as an independent player globally.At present and in the near future,despite of discord and even quarrels within the EU,the basic consensus on maintaining strategic autonomy still remains.Therefore,the EU will not totally tilt towards the United States(US).However,if the EU truly aims to achieve its goal of strategic autonomy,it needs to change its strategic mindset.Only by abandoning the pursuit of power politics and Cold War mentality and conforming to the trend of world peace and development can it play a more active role in the multipolar world.

摘要： In its first year in office,the Biden administration has both inherited and adjusted the previous US policy toward China.It inherits the Trump administration’s strategic position and approach to China,and strives to formulate a competitive China strategy that is more beneficial and sustainable for the US.In fighting against US containment,suppression and provocation,China has demonstrated the strategic resolve and ability to shape the bilateral relationship.At the same time,it has been striving to shape the context and process of China-US interaction through active diplomacy.Against the backdrop of ongoing China-US strategic competition,both countries are strengthening their own strategies and policies to compete for dominance in the bilateral relationship and defend their national interests.
