    摘要: This standard covers the physical properties, potential contaminants, and test procedures for heavy brine fluids manufactured for use in oil and gas well drilling, completion, fracturing, and workover fluids.This standard provides methods for assessing the performance and physical characteristics of heavy  brines for use in field operations. It includes procedures  for evaluating the density or specific gravity, the clarity or amount of particulate matter carried in the brines, the crystallization point or the temperature at which the brines make the transition between liquid and solid at atmospheric pressure (a discussion of crystallization temperature under pressure is provided in Annex C), the pH, iron contamination, and buffering capacity.

    摘要: This testing protocol provides the minimum requirements for documenting performance testing of an inline multiphase flow meter under controlled flowing conditions in a flow loop facility. Completion of the testing protocol is not a calibration and does not replace field testing and validation.This testing protocol documents the method for testing the performance characteristics of multiphase flow meters used in production allocation. The testing protocol includes a listing of parameters affecting the performance of the devices, a description of the tests required, requirements for the test facility, a data reporting format, and an uncertainty determination methodology.

    摘要: The determination of the quantity and quality of cargo on board marine tank vessels is frequently complex. It is necessary to accurately gauge, ascertain the temperature of, collect samples of, and calculate the amount of all materials contained in the vessel’s lines, cargo tanks, and slop tanks. Other spaces on the vessel may also contain cargo, such as ballast tanks, double bottoms, cofferdams, and numerous other nondesignated cargo spaces, all of which have to be checked, and any volumes contained in them calculated. Measurement accountability (quantity and quality) has to further take into account conditions such as, but not limited to, OBQ/ROB, line fullness, preloading tank inspection, closed measurement and sampling systems, and special procedures for chemical and gas cargoes. Reconciliation of the foregoing may be required if gains or losses exceed expected tolerances.The detailed requirements for performing all of these actions are contained in numerousMPMSstandards. This publication identifies the methods for performing these procedures on crude oils; petroleum products; chemical cargoes; LPG and LNG, normally carried on board marine tank vessels; and guides the user to the appropriate standard/guidance document within theMPMSsuite of standards

    摘要: New API-backed research on the fatigue life of bolts used in underwater natural gas and oil infrastructure-including critical blowout prevention equipment-resulted in the publication of this technical report, a key advancement in industry's continued efforts to protect workers and the environment from potential problems associated with bolting fatigue in subsea structures.The test program detailed in this technical report was developed to obtain bolting material fatigue data required to perform design verification analysis of fatigue-sensitive bolts to assure accurate design life estimation. The bolting fatigue testing program provided S-N fatigue curves for three alternating stress ranges in air and saltwater with cathodic protection (CP) and for bolt sizes of 1 in., 2 in. (Grade L7), and 3 in. (Grade L43). S-N curves are used to determine the number of cycles (N) required to test a product to failure at a given stress (S).The results of these S-N fatigue tests allow the bolting design to be assessed for this type of fatigue through structural analysis using the nominal root area stresses in the bolt, avoiding the need to define stress and load concentrations in the bolt root radius of engaged threads.The design guidelines and the fatigue data provided in the document are intended to be used for bolting with unified national thread with root radius (UNR) specifications of ASME B1.1 class 2A/2B and is important information for safe design and operation of offshore bolting.

    摘要: This recommended practice (RP) provides guidelines for heat transfer equipment used in waste heat recovery systems in the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries. Details of related equipment designs are included only where these are necessary to ensure proper design and operation and safe interaction with the heat recovery system. It indicates areas that need attention and offers information and descriptions of various types of heat transfer equipment available to aid in the selection of the appropriate heat recovery system.This RP does not include detailed requirements for:- process to process heat recovery systems,- gas turbine exhaust heat recovery,- CO boilers, or- convection sections used within fired heaters.The waste heat recovery systems included in this RP are typical of those currently in use and should not limit the use of alternate systems.Instrumentation and controls for waste heat recovery systems are sometimes mentioned but is not meant to completely define all requirements. Other standards and documents, such as API RP 556, Instrumentation, Control, and Protective Systems for Fired Heaters, should be used to fully define the needed instruments and controls.

    摘要: This TR documents guidance for the inspection, assessment, and repair of heavy wall reactor vessels (nominally considered a wall thickness of 50 mm (2 in.) and greater) in high-pressure hydrogen service operating at temperatures below 455 °C (850 °F). It provides industry practices dealing with reactor vessels after construction and exposure to operating conditions. It focuses on reactor vessels fabricated from 2¿Cr-1Mo, 3Cr-1Mo, 2¿Cr-1Mo-¿V, and 3Cr-1Mo-¿V steels. It also offers some guidance for heavy wall reactor vessels fabricated from 1Cr-¿Mo and 1¿Cr-¿Mo steels, but specifically does not pertain to C-¿Mo steel vessels. However, guidance included in this document can be used for C-¿Mo steel reactor vessels at the owner's discretion and with modifications as appropriate.This document does not address damage found in hot wall catalytic reforming reactors, fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) reactors, and delayed coking drums as they generally operate at higher temperatures and have thinner walls.Since this is a technical report, it does not provide recommendations, but instead presents industry experience with case histories of repairs and recognized practices, much of which was documented as part of a Joint Industry Program (JIP) on Aging Reactor Vessels, conducted in two phases between 1995 and 2004.

    摘要: This recommended practice (RP) covers the integrity management of hazardous liquid pipeline facilities. This RP provides guidance on:- high-consequence area impact determinations;- data integration;- threat identification;- risk assessment;- inspection and reinspection;- preventive and mitigative measures (P&MM);- performance measures.Facilities include terminal and pipeline station piping systems within terminal and pipeline facility boundaries and includes off-plot piping. Off-plot piping includes, but is not limited to, piping between facilities, piping that comes from or goes to a refinery or other type facility, or piping that may cross a road, ditch, or other property outside the confines of a terminal facility. This RP covers the integrity management of all pressure-containing components directly used in the transport or storage of hazardous liquids within a liquids pipeline facility. Piping for transportation of hazardous liquids, such as but not limited to crude oil, highly volatile liquids (HVLs), gasoline, diesel, biofuels, lubricating oils, jet fuel, and aviation fuel are covered by the scope of this document.This RP does not apply to refinery piping, sanitary waste piping, cast iron piping, or nonmetallic gravity flow piping systems. Tanks are considered and reviewed as part of the high-consequence area analysis and risk assessment. For guidance on the inspection and maintenance of tanks, refer to API Std 653 or API Std 2610.This RP builds on concepts developed in API RP 1160, Managing System Integrity for Hazardous Liquid Pipelines, and outlines a Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle to carry out continuous assessment and improvement for a pipeline facility integrity program. This approach is considered Best in Class and is used to drive continuous operational improvement as in other API standards such as API RP 1173, Pipeline Safety Management Systems. Additional guidance is available in documents such as API 570, Piping Inspection Code: In-service Inspection, Rating, Repair, and Alteration of Piping Systems, and API Std 2610, Design, Construction, Operation, Maintenance, and Inspection of Terminal and Tank Facilities.

    摘要: This recommended practice provides information to assist in the safe performance of welding, cutting, and other hot work activities to be done safely in petroleum and petrochemical operations. The understanding of potential hazards, and application of this knowledge, can help reduce the probability and severity of incidents and the risk of harmful health effects from those activities.Personnel engaged in hot work should have a comprehensive understanding of the potential hazards associated with the activity and materials involved. RP 2009 was updated to include added precautions to prevent fires and incidents during welding operations, as well as an awareness of the hazards of inhalation of welding fumes. Additionally, it includes specific guidance to evaluate procedures for certain types of work equipment in service, supports UN Sustainable Development Goal #9 for Resilient Infrastructure, and is included in the U.S. Department of Labor OSHA's resources materials for Process Safety Management.

    摘要: This technical report covers results of a survey of the petroleum refining industry concerning the use of duplex stainless steel (DSS) in hydroprocessing reactor effluent air cooler (REAC) systems. The API Committee on Refining Equipment Subcommittee on Corrosion and Materials (SCCM) commissioned this survey after several industry reports of weldment cracking failures with DSS REAC system components, including REAC header boxes, tube-to-tubesheet welds, and associated piping. REAC component weldment cracking has been addressed in SCCM documents, including API Recommended Practice 932-B and API Technical Report 938-C, in published conference papers, and in a report issued by the Materials Technology Institute (MTI).Survey results and information from prior studies are used to summarize the weldment cracking issue and to prepare an approach for assessing the likelihood for in-service weldment cracking of DSS REAC system components.
