Inner ear protection method against platinum-based anti-neoplastic agents

Disclosed herein is a method for protecting the inner ear against a platinum-based anti-neoplastic agent by administering thiosulfate to a subject in need thereof. Typically, thiosulfate is administered to a subject to be administered a platinum-based anti-neoplastic agent within 4 hours. Alternatively, the thiosulfate is administered within 7 hours of administration of the platinum-based neoplastic agent.
