QUESTION RELAXATION USING EXTERNAL DOMAIN KNOWLEDGE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS

A system, a method, and a computer-readable medium perform a method for query relaxation. A query issued by a conversation system is received. At least one search term in the query is determined. Instance data is output to the conversation system in response to determining that the instance data in a datastore matches at least one search term in the query. The computer device returns the received query in response to finding that at least one search term does not match the instance data in the datastore,to an external domain-specific knowledge source. The computer device receives the relaxed data matches from the external domain-specific knowledge source that are semantically related to at least one search term in the query based on a plurality of criteria associated with the query. The computer device generates feedback on the query based on contextual information and structural information.
