To solve such a problem that, in manufacturing a top emission type organic EL device, when a lower electrode is fabricated by a coating technique, a film thickness and a material density at an electrode central part decrease, resulting in a decrease of reflectance at the electrode central part, and, as a result, light extraction efficiency decreases.SOLUTION: An insulating layer including a hole is provided on a substrate, and a bank surrounding the hole is formed on the insulating layer. Liquid containing a material of a lower electrode is applied in a region surrounded by the bank on the substrate. As a result of providing the hole, the material contained in the liquid is hardly attracted to a peripheral part, so that the thickness and the material density of a lower electrode central part can be increased and reflectance at the lower electrode can be increased. Accordingly, an organic EL device can be improved in luminous efficiency.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
