The application relates to a chain guard (10) for an electric bicycle with an electric motor with a motor housing (12). The chain guard (10) has means to attach it to the motor housing (12) so that the chain guard (10) covers part of the chain on a sprocket (16) driven by the electric motor. The object of the invention is to provide a chain guard that can be assembled and disassembled in a simple manner. For this purpose, the chain guard (10) has two side sections (22, 24) which extend at a distance and parallel to one another over at least one ring section (26) which corresponds to a part of the area in which the gear wheel (16) engages with the chain, and that the chain guard (10) has at least one peripheral section (28a, 28b, 28c) which extends between the two side sections (22, 24) in such a way that between the two side sections (22, 24) there is a gap (30 ) is designed to accommodate the chain.
