To provide a base paper for a sterilization bag having excellent paper tear resistance under a peel load from any directions and excellent bag breakage resistance, and a sterilization bag.SOLUTION: The base paper for a sterilization bag contains at least a pulp, an alkyl ketene dimer, and an acrylic resin, wherein the addition amount of the alkyl ketene dimer is 0.1-0.4 pts.mass with respect to the mass of the pulp and the acrylic resin amount is 1.0-8.0 g/m, or, contains at least a pulp, an alkyl ketene dimer, and an acrylic resin, wherein the addition amount of the alkyl ketene dimer is 0.1-0.4 pts.mass with respect to the mass of the pulp and the amount of the acrylic resin is 0.5-4.0 g/m, and the acrylic resin has a concentration gradient in the base paper for a sterilization bag in the thickness direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
