A method and apparatus for providing a secure service for a lost mobile terminal are provided. A function for acquiring a lost portable terminal is provided through the relief service, and a function for protecting personal information in the lost portable terminal is provided. The user terminal transmits a control request for obtaining the lost portable terminal to the control server, and the control server transmits a control message to the lost portable terminal. The mobile terminal performs an operation according to the control message, and transmits the result of the operation to the control server. Through such control and operation, the recovery rate of the lost mobile terminal may be improved.
