The present invention provides a method for favorably recovering the optical characteristics of a polarizing plate, said optical characteristics having been deteriorated in a high temperature environment. A method for recovering the optical characteristics of a polarizing plate according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a process for subjecting a polarizing plate, the optical characteristics of which have been deteriorated in a high temperature environment, to a treatment for 40 minutes or more in an environment at 40°C to 65°C at 85% RH to 95% RH.
