Running assistance system comprising a trigger (06; 07) which is mounted on a running track (08); and a mobile terminal device (01), which has a wireless communication unit, a calculation unit and a display unit (02);where the mobile terminal device (01) contains at least one running profile with track information, a target time and a target pass time on the trigger (06; 07);where the wireless communication unit is designed to receive a trigger signal generated at the entry of the mobile terminal device (01) into a transmitting range of the trigger (06; 07);-where the calculation unit is trained to calculate a deviation from the receipt of the trigger signal as the actual time at the target pass time contained in the running profile; andwhere the display unit has at least five different display modes (03), the predetermined sizes of the calculated deviation are assigned to be readable as a measure of the calculated deviation.
